Springtime in Paris raises $7,000 to support early literacy for lifetime achievement

Nearly 50 guests gathered at the French Cultural Center of Boston on Wednesday, May 30th at Raising A Reader MA’s capstone fundraising event in the Spring Into Reading Annual Fund campaign. With their $75 registration fee, guests enjoyed amuse-bouche such as crab remoulde and salmon rillette on endive prepared by Chef Nick Calais at Brasserie Jo. Louis LaTour wine was donated by MS Walker and beer was donated by Crown Imports. Privateer International uncorked their microdistilled rum for guests to taste.

Guests purchased raffle tickets for $10 each for the chance to win one of five raffle packages donated by area businesses. These included:

  • Gift cards to Local 149 and Brasserie Jo
  • Tickets to the ALLY Foundation Flip Flop Regatta on August 10-11, 2012, along with a gift bag
  • An autographed copy of The Legal Seafoods Cookbook by Roger Berkowitz and a Supreme Clambake for 4 offered by Legal Seafoods
  • Six free passes to a Boston by Foot tour and lunch for nine at the Rowe’s Wharf Sea Grille at the Boston Harbor Hotel
  • A beauty package that included a gift certificate to Avanti Salon of Newbury Street, a gift certificate to Balanced Health, and a “Fountain of Youth” skin care package donated by Buta Full Life International.

Between registration fees, raffle tickets and related donations, Raising A Reader MA netted $3,500 at this event. An anonymous donor is matching all donations made during our Spring Into Reading Annual Fund campaign, bringing the total value of the donations for the event to $7,000.
