“Contact Raising a Reader and help raise literacy and show books are important,” is one of the activities suggested by Keith Spiro blogging for Kendall Press in their corporate newsletter earlier this month. We met Keith through Twitter and he jumped on the Raising A Reader MA bandwagon during our October Tweet For Books campaign, organized as part of the Boston Foundation’s two-day Giving Common Challenge. Kendall Press is quickly becoming a valuable corporate partner for their consistent support of our mission, particularly in the social media realm.

Today is “Giving Tuesday,” philanthropy’s answer to “Black Friday” and “Cyber Monday.” However, as Keith and the team at Kendall Press remind us, nonprofit charitable organizations need help all year long, “Beyond the turkeys and the toys for Christmas is a whole host of year round programs reading books to children, mentoring youth, helping students with their homework, sharing STEM skills and knowledge with aspiring young scientists and reaching out to homebound and isolated seniors.”

We are thrilled that Kendall Press is one of several local business – along with our friends at Barefoot Books, Pan Communications, Deloitte, the Rashi School, and the Tufts Health Sciences Campus Store –  highlighting Raising  A Reader MA as a charity that is making a difference in the lives of children and families in the Commonwealth through reading and high impact early literacy experiences. Each of these partners is featuring our efforts to close the academic achievement gap through company and community book drives, corporate giving campaigns, and cause marketing promotions.
