On Thursday, October 3rd, 2019 Raising A Reader MA’s Senior Program Manager Francia Wisnewski was honored at the Latinx Excellence on the Hill ceremony.
The second annual award presentation was established by The Massachusetts Black and Latino Legislative Caucus as a celebration of Latinx culture, excellence and achievement in the Commonwealth. The energy, support and turn out in the room on Thursday was incredible. House Speaker Robert A. DeLeo, Senate President Karen E. Spilka, Representative and Chair of the Mass Black and Latino Legislative Caucus Carlos González, Secretary Rosalin Acosta and author and poet Magdalena Gomez all provided moving remarks.
Francia was unanimously nominated by both Senator Joanne M. Comerford (Hampshire, Franklin and Worcester) and State Representative Natalie Blais (1st Franklin) for her extensive work serving the people of her community. Thank you to Joanne and Natalie for recognizing all of Francia’s hard work.
In addition to working full-time at Raising A Reader MA running the Springfield and Holyoke programming, Francia currently serves as a commissioner of the Hampshire/Franklin Commission on the Status of Women and is a member of the Montague Democratic Committee. She also serves on the boards of the Shea Theater and Leadership Pioneer Valley.
Thank you Francia for all of your hard work supporting the Latinx community and beyond!
