Nancy Traversy, Co-founder and CEO of Cambridge-based Barefoot Books, was honored by Raising A Reader MA with the Red Bag Award for Family Literacy at the Boston Harbor Hotel on Thursday, November 15th for her pioneering work in children’s book publishing. Raising A Reader MA’s Red Bag Award for Family Literacy was created to recognize the efforts of an individual or business that has made an extraordinary contribution to the culture of family reading time.The award was presented during Raising A Reader MA’s celebration of Family Literacy Month, “Celebrating Reading, Family-Style,” emceed by Meghna Chakrabarti of WBUR’s “Radio Boston.”
In introducing Nancy Traversy, the first ever recipient of the award, Executive Director Donna DiFillippo said, “There is no one better to receive the first ever Red Bag Award for Family Literacy than Nancy Traversy.
