Raising A Reader MA Proust Questionnaire: Steve Smith

steve smithMembers of the Raising A Reader MA staff secretly love reading the Proust Questionnaire in the back of Vanity Fair. We decided to share our own version of this personality test with our outstanding board of directors. Board Member Steve Smith is the Co-Founder and CEO of G7 Research LLC which provides the online educational game JogNog. As an entrepreneur he co-founded and sold the company Optas and now serves as a lead mentor at the MIT Venture Mentoring Service. He is actively involved in helping low income families build a culture of reading as the founding Chairman of the Board of Raising a Reader Massachusetts.

What is your favorite book? Harold and the Purple Crayon

Who is your favorite fictional her or heroine? Jean Valjean from Les Miserables

Who is your favorite real life hero or heroine? My mother and father

If you could have dinner with one author – living or dead – who would it be? Why?  Mohandas Gandhi – I’d ask him how he did it. Seems like a good guy to grab a beer with (when not on a hunger strike)

If you could choose one place to live for the rest of your life where would it be? The Ohio River Valley

What is your motto? Every great idea I ever had I find out someone else had three years before I did. The older you get the more your life becomes like a soap opera.

What talent would you most like to have? Creating huge metal sculptures in my backyard.

What is your proudest accomplishment? Beating Harvard in crew while in college.

What do you think is the most overrated virtue? Prudence.
