Raising a Reader MA Names Two New Vice Presidents

Sara Pollock DeMedeiros takes on Role of VP of Programs and Evaluation and Christine Ward named VP of Operations and Finance

BOSTON, February 22, 2016 – Raising A Reader MA (RAR-MA), a nonprofit organization that focuses on early childhood literacy, is pleased to announce the promotion of Sara Pollock DeMedeiros to Vice President of Programs and Evaluation and Christine Ward to Vice President of Operations and Finance. Ms. Pollock DeMedeiros has been the Director of Programs and Evaluation at RAR-MA for the past seven years. As Vice President, she will expand on her responsibilities of curriculum development, program fidelity and expansion. For the past six years, Ms. Ward has lead operations and human resources at RAR-MA. As the organization continues to grow, Ward will expand her role in overseeing and directing the financial and operational health of Raising a Reader MA.

“As we mark the tenth year anniversary of Raising A Reader MA, it seems fitting to acknowledge the hard work, passion and dedication of two individuals who have been with the organization from its early days,” said Randy Houk, Executive Director of RAR-MA. “Both Christine and Sara have strong leadership skills and more importantly, the vision that will strengthen our position as leaders in early childhood literacy.”

Prior to joining RAR-MA, Ms. Ward worked as a Vice President for Progress Partners, a boutique investment bank. She holds an MBA from the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College with a concentration in marketing. Pollock DeMedeiros most recently worked for Tenacity, an organization that brings literacy and tennis out-of-school time opportunities to Boston middle school students. She holds a BA in Anthropology with a concentration in women’s studies from Cornell University and earned her Masters in Education from Harvard University.
