Boston

History

In 2007, RAR MA was approached by an anonymous foundation interested in working with us within the city of Boston.  In order to complement the literacy programs already in this community, which focus on 3-5 year olds, we targeted our Boston programs to work with the birth to three population. To reach this goal, in Spring of 2008, Raising A Reader initiated a small launch in the City of Boston with the Horizons for Homeless Children Edgerley Family Community Children’s Center. We continued to grow later that year, launching with Healthy Families Urban Neighborhoods. Sara Pollock DeMedeiros, Program Director, manages these relationships and expects to expand our partnership to more Horizons classrooms and additional home visiting programs in Boston.
